Teresa Pereda CV

A visual artist, she has a degree in Art History from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. She is a researcher at the Instituto de Artes y Ciencias de la Diversidad Cultural, UNTREF. She is a curator.

Her art education began with Estela Pereda, and she attended studio classes with Ana Eckell and Néstor Cruz. In 1979, she had her first solo exhibition, and she regularly exhibited her paintings during the eighties and early nineties.
Since 1990s, she deepened her research into the connection between man and earth. Since then her art has brought together journeys, interpersonal relations with the inhabitants of the places she visits, celebrations and rituals in which she takes part, and the gathering and exchange of soils.
Her travels in Argentina gave rise to the series Itinerario de cuatro tierras (Itinerary of four soils),which consisted of objects, installations, graphic works, photographs, artist’s books and videos.
In 2007 she began the project Recolección / restitución. Citas por América (Gathering / Restitution. Appointments around America), in which she set out to explore the Americas.
She has exhibited in Argentina and abroad. She has participated in art salons, fellowships and international biennials. Her work is in institutional and private collections in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, Santa Fe, Washington, Austin, Essex and Barcelona.
Born in Buenos Aires, in 1956. She lives and works in Mitikile, near Arenaza, Lincoln county, Buenos Aires province.
