Artist Statement
I search for situations, stories, and mechanisms with which to experience the potential that resides in objects. I marvel at finding something that reveals hidden aspects of things, as it happens with good magic tricks.
I research ways in which to recombine the numberless everyday gestures we share with things and the spaces in order to reinvent the relationships we have with them.
I look for de-specialization. I’m interested in the provisional (such as those things we make in an emergency with whatever is at hand) because it brings out the possibilities things have, manifesting that they can be easily replaced and allowing me to investigate their unstable nature.
I use the universe of objects and domestic space to create events in which the relationship with them may unveil an alternative logic, another order, another system of balance ruled by its own laws.
The phrase “what would happen if (…)” inspires my work to think of another possible universe.
